Operating from its permanent base camp, the Safari Lodge, close to the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Hunts are conducted on concession areas inside Greater Kruger Park and on ranches bordering the reserve.

Hunting season
Our hunting season runs from February 1st to November 30th, the cooler months being from May to August. Excellent trophies are taken throughout the season.

Camp
Our camp is nestled in the shade of big acacia trees at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains. During your stay you will be accommodated in comfortable thatched roof chalets all fitted with fans. Electricity in the camp is 220 Volts. The bath rooms have running hot and cold water. Laundry is done daily.

Food
Guests are treated to traditional South African home cooking. Great care is taken to prepare game hunted on the safari for those hunters who whish to have a taste of our delicious venison. Fresh vegetables mostly grown in the area and salads are served with all meals. Should you have any special dietary requirements, please do let us know so our chef can plan your meals accordingly.

Other activities
A vast number of non-hunting activities are available in the area, making it a suitable destination for the whole family. These include day photographic trips to the Kruger National Park, scenic trips to the Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, a boat trip on the Blyde dam, outings to various animal rehabilitation centres such as the world renowned Kapama Cheetah Project, the Khamai Reptile Park, horse back safaris, helicopter rides along the Drakensberg escarpment and hot air balloon trips to name a few. It is most important to have a fun safari, and Shumba Safaris will do its very best to ensure you go back with good memories!

Medical facilities
We are fortunate to have excellent doctors on hand in town and you should never be further than an hour away from a doctor should you need one. Medical treatment is of world class standard. We suggest you start to take malarial prophylactic before coming on the hunt.

Firearms
The import of firearms into South Africa need not be a difficult procedure. We suggest all our hunters use ‘Hunters Support’. They take care of all the paperwork before you arrive. They can be reached at hunterssupport.com.

Trophy handling
A team of expert skinners will skin, salt and tag your trophies. After your hunt, your trophies will be delivered to Life Form Taxidermy for further processing or export. They can be contacted at art@lifeform.co.za.
